The Baltimore Ravens are currently tied with the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North with a 4-2 record. With the AFC North being so tight right now, it would not be surprising if the Ravens look to add more talent to their roster. This is especially so when noting that they lost their last game to the Browns by a 13-10 final score.
One of the Ravens' top needs is another wide receiver. Due to this, they are being urged to sign a former New York Giants wide receiver. In a recent article for Bleacher Report, Alex Kay urged the Ravens to sign veteran wide receiver Darius Slayton.
"While the Indianapolis Colts brought Slayton in to pad out their receiving depth last month, his brief tenure with the collapsing club ended with his release on October 16. The Ravens should capitalize on this surprise availability, adding a grizzled veteran who could play an immediate role for their short-handed offense," Kay wrote. With the Ravens needing more depth at the wide receiver position, it makes sense that they are being urged to take a chance on Slayton.
He would have the potential to be a solid addition to their roster, as he has shown throughout his career that he can make an impact. In 14 games during this past season with the Giants, Slayton recorded one touchdown, 37 receptions, and 538 receiving yards. He has also recorded over 500 receiving yards in six out of his seven NFL seasons.
With numbers like these, the longtime Giants wide receiver would be an intriguing player for the Ravens to take a gamble on. It will be interesting to see if they pursue him from here.
