After helping the Boston Red Sox clinch a playoff spot, Chad Tracy has now been rewarded by the American League East club. The Red Sox have announced that Tracy will now be their full-time manager moving forward. In addition, the Red Sox shared that they have signed Tracy to a three-year contract through the 2029 season.
Tracy's new deal also comes with a club option for the 2030 season. Seeing Tracy be promoted to full-time manager is not surprising in the slightest. Since taking over as Boston's interim manager following Alex Cora's firing, he led them to a 74-55 record.
With this, Tracy helped the Red Sox get things back on track and get into the playoffs after their poor start to the season. Given how well the Red Sox have been playing under Tracy, it makes sense that they have decided to promote Tracy to be their full-time manager. Now, he will be aiming to help Boston continue to trend in the right direction as they prepare for the MLB playoffs.
In addition to promoting and extending Tracy, the Red Sox also shared that they have exercised their 2029 and 2030 club options on Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow.
