Josh Allen delivered an epic performance against the Detroit Lions on Thursday night, leading the Buffalo Bills to a 41-31 win in the Buffalo Bills' brand-new home stadium. Allen continued to do many of the things that make him one of the best in the NFL. He racked up a whopping 69 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns, and found teammates in the end zone, including Joshua Palmer for a 43-yard touchdown pass.
The former NFL MVP was on Amazon Prime's postgame show, where former player-turned-analyst Richard Sherman made a surprising claim about the adversity Allen faced during "Thursday Night Football." "You're the first player in NFL history with five TD passes and four rushing touchdowns in the first two games of the season," Sherman first informed Allen and everyone. The Bills' quarterback completed 20 of 31 passes in the win for 248 yards and three touchdowns. In addition to his deep pass to Palmer, Allen found Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox in the end zone.
Playing through the flu is no easy feat, as it became a major news story after Michael Jordan's classic performance in a Chicago Bulls' 1997 win over the Utah Jazz. If Allen was playing through flu-like symptoms on Thursday night, it certainly showed just how dedicated he is to making sure his team wins football games. Allen and the Bills' goal remains the same as in previous seasons: reaching and winning the Super Bowl.
