Former New England tight end Rob Gronkowski delivered a bold prediction for AJ Brown's first season with the Patriots.

The Philadelphia Eagles sent superstar wide receiver AJ Brown to the New England Patriots in a blockbuster trade earlier this offseason, giving him his new NFL home before the 2026 season. Brown is now gearing up for his first season as the No. 1 weapon for quarterback Drake Maye, who just led the Patriots to a Super Bowl appearance last year. Brown reeled in 78 catches for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns with the Eagles in 2025.

The best individual season of his NFL career came in 2022, when he had 88 catches for 1,496 yards and 11 touchdowns. Former New England tight end Rob Gronkowski believes Brown is primed for the best season of his career with the Patriots in 2026. "He is delighted to be in New England.

I feel like he wasn't truly happy in Philadelphia, and I think he's going to have his best year ever because of that reason," Gronkowski told NFL reporter Kay Adams. "Right when he went to New England, his heart was revived." The Patriots will begin their 2026 season with a Week 1 Super Bowl rematch against the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 9.
