Netflix’s “The Gentlemen” has revealed a host of new cast members as production on Season 3 gets underway in the U.K. and Morocco. Among the new faces as the series returns: Robert Carlyle (“Line of Duty”), Elijah Wood (“Yellowjackets”) and Orlando Bloom (“The Cut”). It’s a reunion of sorts for Wood and Bloom, who spent years working together on the “Lord of the Rings” films.
This reps the first time the three thesps have worked with Guy Ritchie, the mastermind behind “The Gentlemen.” Also joining the cast is Dexter Fletcher (“Band of Brothers”), who also appeared in Ritchie’s “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels”; Bruna Marquezine (“Benefits With Friends”), Ed Speleers (“You”), Saffron Burrows (“You”) and Bugzy Malone (“Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre”). They join stars Theo James and Kaya Scodelario as Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass, the lead characters who forge a partnership inside the criminal underworld after Eddie inherits Halstead Manor. Also back are returning cast members Ray Winstone (as Susie’s kingpin father Bobby Glass), Joely Richardson (Eddie’s mother, Lady Sabrina), Vinnie Jones (groundskeeper Geoff), Jasmine Blackborow (Eddie’s sister Charly), Harry Goodwins (Susie’s brother Jack), Benjamin Clementine (Charly’s husband) and Maya Jama (Aisha).
Not listed among the returning cast: Daniel Ings, who played a major role in first two seasons of “The Gentlemen” as Eddie’s older, troubled brother Freddy. And Giancarlo Esposito (as American billionaire Stanley Johnston) is not listed as returning. Here’s the logline for Season 3: “Eddie (Theo James) and Susie (Kaya Scodelario) embark upon their most audacious project yet: building a casino in the Middle East.
But with danger lurking around every corner, has the Duke’s unchecked ambition finally gone too far?” In August, Variety exclusively confirmed that “The Gentlemen” had been renewed for a Season 3. Although rumors had surfaced that Meghan Markle might join the cast, it ultimately did not happen. Produced by Moonage Pictures for Netflix and Miramax TV, Ritchie is the creator.
Ritchie and Matthew Read are the series writers, while Ritchie and Evan Creevy are the directors. Executive producers are Guy Ritchie, Ivan Atkinson, Matthew Read, Will Gould, Simon Crawford Collins and Frith Tiplady for Moonage Pictures alongside Jonathan Glickman and Alix Jaffe for Miramax TV, Theo James. Here is the Season 2 logline: “It’s been one year since Eddie and Susie joined forces to work together in Bobby’s criminal empire overseas.
As they drive to expand their enterprise, the decisions Bobby is making seem to be increasingly unsound. Now Eddie and Susie must decide whether to take action or risk losing it all, but unfettered ambition never ends well.”
