Robert Pattinson will be honored as the 40th recipient of the American Cinematheque Award. Pattinson receives the award in celebration of his own two-decade career, in which he’s established himself as one of the most versatile actors of his generation. The actor will be feted on Feb. 9, 2027, at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
He wraps up the year as a shape-shifting assassin in Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Three.” Pattinson is currently in production on Matt Reeves’ “The Batman: Part II,” reprising his role as Batman/Bruce Wayne in the sequel to the blockbuster superhero movie. That level of dexterity is par for the course for Pattinson, who has curated a career that spotlights his range as a performer. The actor’s filmography spans his breakout roles in the “Twilight” and “Harry Potter” franchises to more eclectic fare like Robert Eggers’ “The Lighthouse”; “Good Time,” from Josh and Benny Safdie; Bong Joon Ho’s “Mickey 17”; “Die, My Love” with Jennifer Lawrence; and Nolan’s “Tenet.” “Rob is the perfect choice to receive this award and join our esteemed list of artists who not only love cinema but continue to have a deep impact on our industry,” Nicita continued.
Jordan (last year’s recipient and the eventual best actor Oscar winner), Eddie Murphy, Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Jodie Foster, Denzel Washington (Pattinson’s co-star in the upcoming film “The Take”), Nicole Kidman and George Clooney, among others. To note, Ryan Gosling was previously selected to receive the 40th American Cinematheque award. But when the “Project Hail Mary” star had a scheduling conflict with the gala (originally set for Nov. 2), the event was postponed to 2027.
The annual American Cinematheque gala is a fundraiser for the nonprofit organization, supporting its year-round programming at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, the Los Feliz 3 Theatre in Los Feliz and the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.
