The Houston Rockets took the podium for media day ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season on Tuesday. Media day resulted in several notable quotes from Rockets players, including one hilarious comment from veteran NBA center Steven Adams. Adams joked that league-wide production and focus will "plummet" once Grand Theft Auto VI is released in late November.
"I will say, you guys should anticipate November. The performance of the league, league-wide. So look at NFL, look at all the leagues and watch them plummet mate," Adams said.
"Just for the month of November, performance is going to go down. It should come back up though. Most of the boys will get it done." The release of GTA VI is one of the most highly-anticipated video game drops of all time.
The game has been in development for 12-13 years, with pre-production beginning soon after the release of GTA V back in 2013. Adams, 33, is entering his 13th active NBA season and third campaign with the Rockets. He averaged 5.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game through 32 regular-season appearances in 2025-26, missing the remainder of the year after undergoing surgery on his left ankle in January.
The Rockets will begin their 2026-27 regular-season schedule with a matchup against the Dallas Mavericks on Oct. 21.
