Russell Wilson Makes Bold Push for Cowboys to Trade for Star Pass-Rusher

Russell Wilson made the case the Dallas Cowboys should go all-in on trading for a Pro Bowl Micah Parsons replacement.

The Dallas Cowboys (3-4) are looking up at the New York Giants (4-2-1) atop the NFC East. After Monday’s 38-21 win over a hobbled Philadelphia Eagles, the Cowboys are clearly the second-best team in their division, but their roster still doesn’t look like its championship caliber yet. Quarterback Dak Prescott, running back Javonte Williams, and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb are all putting up big numbers offensively, but Dallas still doesn’t seem to have that defensive X-factor that could be a difference-maker come playoff time.

Many believe the Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones are scouring the trade market to find that impact player, and former NFL QB-turned-CBS Sports analyst Russell Wilson thinks he knows the first pace Jones should be looking. "I’m thinking who can I get? Who can make a difference for us?

What player that may be — it may be an edge pass-rusher, you never know who that may be. Could it be a Maxx Crosby, for example? Could they go and get Maxx Crosby?

Could the Dallas Cowboys pull the trigger? I’m just saying if I was the GM of the Dallas Cowboys and I was running the show, I’m knocking on the door because the reality is is that the Raiders aren’t going to do it anymore. And so the question is who is going to pull the trigger on Maxx Crosby?” The Cowboys reportedly had serious interest in acquiring Crosby during the offseason before the Baltimore Ravens swooped in and agreed to send two first-round picks to Vegas for the Pro Bowl pass-rusher.

The deal was nixed shortly after with Crosby allegedly failing his physical, though most believe the Ravens had buyer’s remorse and found a medical loophole to back out of the trade. But with the 3-4 Raiders trailing both the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos in their division, some analysts think the team could start selling off assets and building up its draft capital ahead of the 2027 draft. If the Cowboys believe they’re one pass-rusher away from being a Super Bowl contender, parting with first- and second-round picks makes a lot of sense for them.

But given Dallas gave up its 2027 first-round pick in the Quinnen WIlliams trade last year, the high price to acquire Crosby could take them out of contention for his services.
