Retired NFL star Russell Wilson is now admiring the league's top quarterbacks from afar, including the Baltimore Ravens' Lamar Jackson after an impressive Week 1 win. The Ravens got off to a 1-0 start for the new season, with their quarterback completing 17 of 25 passes for 324 yards and also rushing for 40 yards. Jackson finished with two total touchdowns, one passing and one rushing, in an impressive 41-23 win over the Indianapolis Colts.
"He's as good as it gets. There's not anybody better than Lamar Jackson in terms of his ability to run," Wilson told co-host Kyle Long on NFL on CBS's "Set, Hut!" show. "Just the plays that he's making.
I don't think people understand the difficulty of these players. So, when I think about all-time greatest dynamic quarterbacks ... I mean, Michael Vick was pretty special; Lamar Jackson may be No. 1 when it's all said and done," the Super Bowl XLVIII champion said.

Wilson, who last played for the New York Giants, talked about Jackson's impressive speed on the field, speculating that he might run a 4.31 40-yard dash time. "I think that his ability to throw the ball is what also makes him really special," the 10-time Pro Bowler said, also praising the Ravens' offense for how they use running back Derrick Henry with Jackson to keep the defense guessing.
Jackson is playing under a brand-new head coach, Jesse Minter, formerly the defensive coordinator with the Los Angeles Chargers. Since joining the league in 2018, Jackson's only head coach was John Harbaugh, who was fired after the team failed to make the postseason in 2025. With Minter as head coach, former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle took over as Ravens OC on Minter's staff.
Jackson, a two-time NFL MVP, previously praised his team's new offense, explaining he was excited to unleash it on the rest of the NFL, which appears to have already happened against the Colts.
