Russia launched a barrage of missiles and drones Wednesday night, damaging homes and commercial infrastructure in Kyiv, Odesa and Zaporizhzhia. The Kyiv City Military Administration said in a statement on Telegram that the attack hit civilian infrastructure at more than 10 locations, including warehouses, an office building, residential buildings and vehicles. At least 18 people were injured in Kyiv, among them a 10-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy, local authorities said.
Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia launched 157 drones and a mix of ballistic and cruise missiles. Air defenses shot down or neutralized 131 targets, but strikes still hit 36 locations and debris fell at five others. It also confirmed Zaporizhzhia as one of the main targets of attack, alongside Kyiv and Odesa, where three people were injured, including a child, and a residential building was damaged.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a Facebook post that it was “symbolic” that the United States Congress passed Lindsey Graham’s Russia sanctions bill on the same night as another Russian attack. The measure, which passed 262-159 and now heads to President Donald Trump, targets Russian energy revenues and gives the White House tariff powers against major buyers of Russian oil and gas. Zelenskyy called sanctions “an extremely strong tool” that could force Moscow toward peace.
