Say Goodbye To The Best RPG On Xbox Game Pass

Sandfall Interactive's award-winning Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is being pulled from Microsoft's Game Pass subscription service

It's a new month, which means that Game Pass's repertoire of games is due for a shake-up. The Xbox and PC gaming subscription service is getting a slew of notable new games, such as the roguelike platformer Neon Abyss 2, Napoleonic soulslike Valor Mortis, and hit multiplayer shooter Battlefield 6. More notable than the additions this October, however, may be the titles getting pulled from Microsoft's gaming membership.

Starting on Oct. 15, Game Pass members will have to say goodbye to titles like A Plague Tale: Requiem, Donut County, and Pacific Drive. The most high-profile loss on the service is undoubtedly Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the French role-playing game that swept Game of the Year awards in 2025. For an RPG, Clair Obscur is on the more conservative side: How Long To Beat estimates an average playtime of just under 30 hours if you stick to the main story.

The half the fun of any good RPG is the side quests — and depending on how many you take on, Expedition 33's play time can balloon up to 69 hours. With its gripping story of a civilization on the verge of extinction and its flashy turn-based battles, Sandfall Interactive's debut game earned widespread critical acclaim last year. The game swept all the major video game awards in 2025, and it also broke a record for being the most-played title on Game Pass that year.

If you haven't started it and have Game Pass, the clock is ticking. If you did start but put down the game at some point, there's slightly less pressure — but you still don't have long to reach the Paintress. If you have beaten Sandfall Interactive's beloved RPG, now might be a great time to check out the game's totally free DLC, Verso's Drafts.

The expansion comes with a photo mode, fun new outfits, and some devilishly difficult encounters that must be parried. You could also try the game a second time around — knowing what happens actually intensifies the story. And if, after all this time, you're still skeptical that Expedition 33 could really be as good as everyone says, you should read about how even high-profile haters changed their minds on it.

If you already have Game Pass, though, you don't have to take my word for it! Here's everything leaving Game Pass on Oct. 15
