Seahawks' Jaxon Smith-Njigba on Injury Report Before 'TNF' Clash With Broncos

The Seattle Seahawks put star wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba on Monday's report before Thursday's primetime game.

The Seattle Seahawks must monitor Jaxon Smith-Njigba's status during a short week ahead of Thursday night's game against the Denver Broncos. Smith-Njigba was among nine players listed on Monday's injury report before Week 6. Although they didn't practice, the Seahawks estimated him as a limited participant due to an ankle injury.

Smith-Njigba was seen limping on the sideline after an awkward fall in Sunday's 32-29 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The star wide receiver added 102 receiving yards to his league-leading tally and scored his seventh touchdown, but he dropped what could have been a crucial third-down catch in the closing minute. Smith-Njigba has played in all 59 Seahawks games, including last season's Super Bowl run, since getting drafted with the No. 20 pick in 2023.

The 24-year-old offered no indication after Sunday's loss that the streak was in danger of ending. "Those are the ones that matter, so definitely would love to have those back, but I can't sulk in it," Smith-Njigba said of his drop after the game. "We have a game in four days, so learn from it, move on, and like I said, continue to get better." Losing Smith-Njigba would obviously be a massive blow to Seattle's offense.

The reigning Offensive Player of the Year has exceeded 100 yards and scored a touchdown in four of five games this season, and he still registered 76 yards in the outlier. The former Ohio Star star has drawn a whopping 34.5% of the offense's targets this season. Cooper Kupp ranks second on the Seahawks with 129 receiving yards, not much higher than JSN's per-game average (116.6).

Monday's injury report appearance isn't necessarily cause for panic, and Smith-Njigba could ease concerns by practicing Tuesday ahead of the "Thursday Night Football" matchup on Amazon Prime Video.
