The Denver Broncos will host the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL's Week 6 edition of "Thursday Night Football" on Oct. 15. The intriguing matchup not only pits a defending AFC finalist against the reigning Super Bowl champions, but also a battle of two of the more highly regarded head coaches in the league with Sean Payton and Mike Macdonald. Though the game is still more than three weeks away, Seattle's third-year man may have just added some extra juice to the contest.
During a recent interview with journalist Graham Bensinger, Macdonald revealed explosive details about something that transpired prior to the last meeting between the Broncos and Seahawks in Week 1 of the 2024 season. Macdonald prefaced the story by saying that he likes Payton "a lot," but the 62-year-old is "not my biggest fan." Seattle won the contest, 26-20, in what was the 39-year-old Macdonald's head-coaching debut. According to the former Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator, the Seahawks told Payton that if he went public with the allegations, "we're going to sue you because it's not true." With the next Macdonald-Payton clash on the horizon, Broncos and Seahawks reporters are sure to ask the two lead man about the latest bombshell.
Seattle has started the 2026 season 2-0, despite losing starting quarterback Sam Darnold to injury early in Week 1. Denver bounced back from an ugly Week 1 loss versus the Kansas City Chiefs with a 20-13 victory in Week 2 over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
