The Los Angeles Rams aren’t the only NFC West team bolstering their playoff odds with a blockbuster trade.. The defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks pulled off a head-turning move on Tuesday, sending a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick to the Indianapolis Colts for eight-time Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson. The move is notable because it now gives Seattle one of the stronger interior offensive lines in the NFC.
Grey Zabel, Seattle’s 2025 first-round pick, is expected to move from left to right guard with Jalen Sundell holding down the center spot. Reshuffling the guard spots will presumably make running the ball easier for the Seahawks’ group of running backs. Emmanuel Wilson is currently the team’s RB1 with Zach Charbonnet and Jadarian Price both injured.
If the Seahawks wanted to shake things up even more, there’s another trade out there they could consider. Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay recently proposed (before the Nelson trade) the Seahawks send Wilson plus second- and fourth-round picks in 2027 to the Colts in exchange for Pro Bowl running back Jonathan Taylor. "The team attempted to draft a replacement in Jadarian Price, but thus far the first-round rookie has underwhelmed and dealt with significant injuries.
Emmanuel Wilson has helped plug the hole while Zach Charbonnet continues to work his way back from an ACL tear, but trading for Taylor would give the team an established lead back to run the offense around for the long haul.” Through seven games, Taylor has totaled 587 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground, and 178 yards on 17 catches. If the Seahawks added Taylor, it would give them one of the best 1-2 RB punches in the NFL between him and Charbonnet, who scored 12 touchdowns and rushed for 730 yards last season.
