The Pretty Reckless' Taylor Momsen and Pearl Jam's Mike McCready join reunited band for "Outshined" and a rare "Spoonman"

The surviving members of Soundgarden reunited Wednesday to perform during halftime of the Seattle Seahawks’ 2026 season-opening NFL game at Lumen Field. Guitarist Kim Thayil, bassist Ben Shepherd, and drummer Matt Cameron were joined by the Pretty Reckless’ Taylor Momsen — who served as Soundgarden’s opening act during that band’s final tour with Chris Cornell — as well as fellow Seattle native, grunge associate, and Cameron’s former Pearl Jam bandmate Mike McCready, who served as second guitarist. The halftime show featured the reconfigured Soundgarden performing the Badmotorfinger staple “Outshined.” They also dusted off Superunknown’s “Spoonman” for the first time since May 17, 2017, which was the date of the band’s final gig with Cornell before his death later that night.

McCready — who has similarly been on hand for some of those Soundgarden reunions — also performed the national anthem prior to Wednesday’s game, which saw the Seahawks stage a second-half comeback to defeat the New England Patriots in a rematch of this past Super Bowl.
