Shannon Sharpe Brutally Roasts Rams Secondary for Costing Team Win vs Bills

Shannon Sharpe unloaded on the Rams' secondary after they lost in a stunning overtime game against the Buffalo Bills.

The Los Angeles Rams suffered a disappointing 37-34 overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills in "Monday Night Football," and former NFL star Shannon Sharpe couldn't resist calling out the team's defense. In particular, Sharpe addressed the Rams' secondary, including their cornerbacks Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson, both of whom previously starred for the Kansas City Chiefs. Sharpe blasted the Rams for paying so much money for those guys based on their performances so far.

"Bro, I got a hundred million dollars worth of corners. You mean to tell me I can't put McDuffie and I can't put Watson on those guys," he said to his "Night Cap" co-hosts. "So why is Trent McDuffie making $33 million, Ocho?

Somebody needs to explain that to me," Sharpe said. "Somebody needs to explain why Jaylen Watson is making $20 million if they can't cover Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir." More news: Rams HC Sean McVay Sounds Off on Stunning Overtime Loss to Bills Josh Allen didn't go off with his passing game, with 210 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Khalil Shakir finished with 80 yards on three receptions in the win.

Teammate Sky Johnson had four receptions for 72 yards, and Keon Coleman, who had a quiet night with seven yards, had the only receiving touchdown of the game. "My point is, Ocho, as a defense, why am I playing man coverage when guys can't beat me?" Sharpe said. "He can beat me with his legs more than they can catching the football." The Rams made big moves to upgrade their defense this offseason, including trading for Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett and trying to add help in the secondary.

They traded the No. 29 pick in this year's NFL Draft to the Chiefs for McDuffie, who won two Super Bowls in Kansas City. They signed Watson as a free agent this offseason to a three-year, $51 million contract. The two corners didn't play horribly in the "Monday Night Football" loss, with McDuffie finishing with three tackles and Watson coming up with a big interception on Allen.

However, Sharpe questioned the game plan when you have two players like that who are getting paid so much. So far, neither player has had a bad start to the season, with McDuffie racking up 16 total tackles and also having an interception. Watson has 11 total tackles and last night's interception, but unfortunately was on the losing side in a closely contested matchup against a strong Bills team.
