Shivon Zilis, the artificial intelligence executive who shares four children with Elon Musk, said on Thursday that her relationship with the billionaire had come to an abrupt end. In a lengthy post on X, she wrote that she had gone from being "in love" to being "let go" with little warning. "It's hard to go from in love to let go in a week with no warning, but that's just how it is sometimes," Zilis said in the post.
The post appears to confirm that Zilis and Musk, whose relationship had largely remained private despite their growing family, are no longer together. In the emotional statement, Zilis described herself as a source of stability and support in Musk's life. "I feel happy that I got to show Elon how it feels to be deeply understood, nurtured, and peacefully loved with stability and gentleness," she wrote.
She added that she hoped she had provided a respite from what she called Musk's "otherwise militant existence," describing their household as a place "full of happiness and love, not war." Newsweek has contacted X, SpaceX and Neuralink for comment. Despite the apparent breakup, Zilis said she hoped they could remain "great friends and coparents." "I've loved him more than life itself," she wrote. "I do hope and pray he and I can be great friends and coparents." The post quickly drew attention online after the account Big Tech Alert reported that Musk was no longer following Zilis on X, fueling speculation about the status of their relationship.
Zilis, a venture capitalist and artificial intelligence specialist, has worked closely with Musk’s companies for years. She previously served at Neuralink and has been involved with several of Musk's AI ventures. In 2022, court documents revealed that she and Musk had welcomed twins together, and they now have four children.
Until now, however, Musk and Zilis had largely avoided the public conflict that characterized some of Musk's other relationships. In her post, Zilis said her focus remained on their children. "There is a lot of loss," she wrote, "but luckily, we created four beautiful little loves of my life." She ended with a direct message to Musk: "I'm hurting, but care deeply about E and will always be cheering for his happiness.
God speed, Elon, the world is lucky to have you." Contact Newsweek editors on this story: Jason Lemon and Cristina Diciu.
