Horror streamer Shudder has acquired the rights to “Sundown,” a new supernatural horror feature from director Rebekah McKendry, Variety can exclusively reveal. According to an official logline, “‘Sundown’ follows three generations of women who reunite in a remote cabin to avenge a loved one’s death, only to discover their captive isn’t who he seems to be, and his family is closing in, waiting for sundown.” “Sundown” stars Olwen Fouéré (“The Watchers,” “Mandy”), Camille Sullivan (“Shelby Oaks”), Summer H. Howell (“Carrie”), Daniel Bernhardt (“The Matrix Reloaded,” “Nobody 2”) and David Alpay (“From”).
Supporting cast members include Kyle Mac (“Reacher”), Elisa Paszt (“Monica’s News”), David Ian McKendry, Junko Bailey (“The Grudge”) and Megan Best (“Elevator Game”). Add monsters, revenge, and a sharp dose of acerbic wit, and this became a passion project for me. Even while trudging through two feet of snow in temperatures as low as -40 degrees, our cast, crew, and producers never stopped giving this film everything they had.” Joshua Hull and David Ian McKendry, who previously collaborated with McKendry on her 2022 feature “Glorious,” wrote the screenplay for “Sundown.” Guns N’ Roses’ Slash serves as executive producer under his BeserkerGang label.
