Skip Bayless Names 4 Things Cowboys Are Missing in Brutal Rant

Skip Bayless unloaded on the Cowboys on First Take, and Jerry Jones didn’t escape. Then Quinnen Williams fired back.

Skip Bayless stands among the most recognizable Cowboys fans in sports media, and he sounds done with Dallas. The longtime commentator tore into the Dallas Cowboys on "First Take," according to a clip the ESPN show posted on X on Nov. 6. Smith called the team a disaster in the making, Bayless replied that the wreck has been unfolding for 31 years.

Then he spelled out what he believes the roster is missing. The real target was Jones, who owns the franchise and still runs its football operation at 84. I hate him as the worst GM in pro football because at age 84, he’s still the owner and operator who said the other day, I like the way we’re trending,” Bayless added.

Bayless argued that optimism tells players losing costs nothing. He also blamed Jones for turning the Cowboys into sports’ leading soap opera. Trending is a tough word to sell after Week 8, when Dallas fell 33-30 in overtime to the Arizona Cardinals.

That loss sparked a second Bayless jab. Defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, 28, leaned on the word “execute” while meeting with reporters, and Bayless said the star used it 32 times in five minutes. As for the collapse itself, he joked that he had wanted to execute a few Cowboys players on the field.

Williams, a four-time Pro Bowler, wasn’t laughing. Dallas turns next to the Indianapolis Colts, who have only two wins, and Williams has already said the defense needs a full four quarters instead of three.
