Sloppy Springboks look to clean up mistakes in second test against New Zealand

Cape Town – South Africa was beaten soundly in the opening fixture of its “Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry” series against New Zealand last weekend but is unlikely to be as error-prone again in the second test in Cape Town on Saturday. The world champion Springboks had the edge in the scrum battle, the contact area and under the high ball but, despite numerous entries into the All Blacks’ 22, scored one try as handling errors and poor decision-making proved to be costly. South Africa has not lost two games in a row since 2022, and has not done so at home in 11 years, but now faces a New Zealand side that came into the series as the underdog but is now full of confidence.
