Netflix has announced an unscripted reality series based on the infamous Stanford Prison Experiment. The New Stanford Prison Experiment is set to debut on October 21 and consist of six 45-minute episodes. The Stanford Prison Experiment was a 1971 study in which volunteers playing guards and prisoners in a mock prison quickly fell into abusive and distressed behaviors, but its findings have since been heavily challenged on scientific and ethical grounds.
