The Pittsburgh Steelers haven't been able to catch a break from injuries the last few weeks. It seems like a new star player is being added to the injury report each week. Thursday's injury report included a surprising name, one that Steelers fans wish wasn't on the list: edge rusher T.J.
The former Defensive Player of the Year didn't practice on Wednesday for a rest designation. But, then he was limited in practice on Thursday because of a calf injury. This is a new injury to the public.
It's unclear when or how Watt suffered the calf injury. But, now there's a possibility, even if just a slight one, that Watt could miss Sunday's game in Paris against the New Orleans Saints. Watt being absent for a game is always a loss for the Steelers.
He can always make big and important plays for his team. Through six games this season, Watt's recorded 4.5 sacks (tied for eighth in the league), 15 tackles, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. There was some good defensive news coming out of the Steelers' injury report, though.
Cornerback Jalen Ramsey was limited on Thursday after not practicing the day prior with a wrist injury, so that was improvement. Outside linebacker Alex Highsmith was also limited with a groin issue, the same designation as Wednesday. Veteran tackle Cameron Heyward didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday for rest designations, but he should be good to go come Sunday.
Safety DeShon Elliott recorded his second-straight full practice on Thursday, meaning he'll likely play on Sunday. It would mark Elliott's first game since last October after he suffered an MCL sprain, hyperextended knee and a hamstring injury.
