The Los Angeles Rams added to their already-elite roster this past weekend, signing all-time great NFL pass rusher Aaron Donald on a one-year deal. This addition only furthered the hype surrounding the Rams organization this coming season. With reigning NFL MVP Matthew Stafford and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, Los Angeles is one of the clear favorites to compete for a Super Bowl title.
Donald, 35, retired after the Rams' 2023 season, spending each of the last two seasons away from the game. So, how good will the three-time Defensive Player of the Year be upon his return to action? According to ESPN analyst Stephen A.
Smith, Donald only has to be "good" for the Rams to complete their Super Bowl aspirations. "His B game is better than 99% of the league at their A game. He doesn't need to be great, he just needs to be good and he's still great," Smith said.
Through Donald's last NFL season in 2023, he recorded eight sacks, 16 tackles for loss and 23 QB hits — securing his eighth career First Team All-Pro selection. The Rams will open their 2026 campaign with a Week 1 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 10.
