Target's Car Seat Trade-In event is back, but the store has paired the semi-annual event with discounts completely unrelated to car seats that are as high as 50 percent off some items. Each year, Target hosts a car seat trade-in event where parents can get rid of their old car seats and get a discount on a brand-new one. Buying the necessities for babies can quickly add up, surging to over $1,000 fairly easily, and parents can save over $100 by participating in the Target event.
The trade-in event started on September 20 and will run through October 3. People who bring an old car seat to trade in can get a 20 percent Target Circle bonus to use on a new car seat or other eligible baby gear. Along with giving customers a chance to buy baby products they need at a discount, Target's car seat trade-in event is meant to repurpose the car seats that are brought to the store.
Target recycles materials from the car seats and uses them to create Brightroom and Room Essentials brand products. To take advantage of the event, customers should go to a participating Target store with their old car seat and scan the QR code or barcode at the drop-off box. Customers will need the Target app to scan the code and add the Target Circle Bonus to their account.
Once the QR code is scanned, the bonus will appear in the Target app, and customers can use the bonus twice. The bonus can be combined with other item offers, but it's only valid until October 17, so customers need to make their next purchase relatively quickly. The discount is only available for people who drop off an old car seat.
However, if customers want to take advantage of the 20 percent off bonus and don't have an old car seat, they could buy one off Facebook Marketplace and trade that one in. But, customers should bear in mind that the amount they're paying for the car seat may be more than their discount is worth. Along with the discount parents can get by bringing in a car seat, Target is offering eight other discounts for parents in September, but with different timelines.
This week, parents can get a $20 gift card if they spend $80 on diapers and wipes. Little Spoon products are buy one, get one 25 percent off, and Aveeno and Johnson's baby toiletries are 25 percent off, as well. Customers can also get buy one, get one 50 percent off toddler and baby clothing and buy one, get one 30 percent off bottles and pacifiers.
