The Houston Texans offense will be without a massive piece for the 2026 NFL season. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Texans second-year wide receiver Jayden Higgins suffered a torn ACL during yesterday's joint practice against the Las Vegas Raiders. It is a brutal blow to the Texans offense after Higgins looked ready to make a second-year jump following a promising rookie campaign in which he recorded 41 catches for 525 yards and six touchdowns.
The Texans will now have to rely on their other wide receivers Nico Collins, Xavier Hutchinson, Jaylin Noel and Tank Dell, who has also had his fair share of injuries to start his NFL career. That could mean Houston will look elsewhere for help, whether that be in free agency or via a trade, but there is not doubt it will be difficult to find an impact wide receiver at this point of the year. The Texans selected Higgins with the No. 34 overall pick in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft out of Iowa State.
During his two years with the Cyclones, Higgins racked up 140 catches for 2,166 yards and 15 touchdowns. He began his collegiate career at Eastern Kentucky, where he had 87 catches for 1,151 yards and 13 touchdowns from 2021-22.
