The Texas A&M Aggies lost their third game on the season on Saturday in a dismal effort against Missouri. After the game, Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko put the local media covering his team on blast, referencing one reporter in question who seems happy to engage in an ugly back and forth on social media. Given the nature of the loss to Missouri, a 27-6 loss that was largely out of reach for the Aggies midway through the second half, Mike Elko received questions following the game about the grievances of the Texas A&M fanbase.
When speaking to the media after the game, Elko was asked what message he would send the Texas A&M fanbase about the team following the loss. Elko made a clear distinction between fans "on social media" and fans that he believes to be true supporters. Specifically, Elko called a specific sub-section of Texas A&M fans "Billy's cesspool", referring to those who consume content made by Billy Liucci , the Executive Editor & co-owner of TexAgs.com who has understandably been critical of Texas A&M this season amid their struggles.

Our fanbase, stay with us. We're going to build something that we told you we were going to build. We're in a really bad spot right now.
But we'll work our way out of it." Naturally, Elko's message didn't take long to reach Billy Liucci, who took to social media to claim that Elko indirectly calling out a large portion of the fanbase frustrated with the lack of results was a "wildly unnecessary misstep". "Going to show restraint here (for now) and get back to answering questions, but the head coach losing 27-6 then immediately calling out an incredibly large portion of the loyal but also understandably frustrated fan base was a wildly unnecessary misstep," wrote Liucci in a post on X. More news: Ex-NFL QB Urges Arch Manning Not to Declare for 2027 Draft After OK Loss Given the expectations that Texas A&M fans had coming into this season after an 11-1 season in 2025 and a CFP appearance, it sure seems completely justified for supporters of the team to be upset with the team's 3-3 start to the season.
Elko doesn't seem to agree with this sentiment. So it will be interesting to see if noise continues to get louder from the Aggies fanbase if things go further sideways this season. Texas A&M will look to rebound from this ugly loss in Week 7 when they return home for a matchup with The Citadel Bulldogs.
