Arch Manning and the No. 1 ranked Texas Longhorns will travel to Knoxville for a highly-anticipated SEC matchup against the No. 14 Tennessee Volunteers this coming Saturday. Manning has some rich family history in Knoxville, with his uncle Peyton playing all four seasons of his all-time great collegiate career as quarterback for the Volunteers. However, this will be Manning's first trip to Knoxville.
"I'm definitely excited to play. Hostile environment, SEC road game — that's what it's all about," Manning said. "I just assumed that he'd been to Knoxville, been to Tennessee.
But he's never been before," Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian added when speaking to reporters on Monday. "It's all part of the journey. It's all part of the story.
For him, I'm sure there's going top be a special moment for the family. But at the end of the day, you've got to go play." So far this season, Manning has 664 passing yards, seven passing touchdowns and two interceptions, while rushing for an additional 80 yards on the ground. Texas is 3-0 to open up the season, including a thrilling comeback victory over the previously No. 1 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes.
The Volunteers pose the next big challenge for the Longhorns, who will kick off at noon ET from Knoxville's Neyland Stadium.
