Following the events of Season 3, Kate is forced to deal with the fallout of President Grace Penn (Allison Janney) and Vice President Hal Wyler’s (Rufus Sewell) covert action against both the Russian and British governments. Naturally, things do not go smoothly. As previously reported, “The Diplomat” will debut its eight-episode fourth season on Oct. 15.
Along with Russell, Janney, and Sewell, the series stars Ato Essandoh, Ali Ahn, Nana Mensah, Rory Kinnear with Bradley Whitford. The official logline for Season 4 states: “Two marriages threaten to eat each other alive. One catastrophic moment shatters the fragile peace Kate Wyler brokered between the US and UK, as well as the crumbling marriage she’s trying to save.
While she fights to stem the bleeding, President Grace Penn and VP Hal Wyler’s conspiracy to steal Russia’s most powerful weapon hurtles the United States toward war. Kate and Todd (Bradley Whitford), at best an uneasy pair, unite to stop the Grace-Hal alliance from upending the balance of power abroad and at home.” Debora Cahn created “The Diplomat” and serves as executive producer and showrunner. Russell is also an executive producer along with Janice Williams, Alex Graves, Peter Noah, and Eli Attie.
The show was also up for outstanding drama series.
