The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered gets a big patch a few days into release, making some much-needed changes to visuals.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered hasn't been out for more than two weeks, and it's already received a handful of hotfixes and patches. This is normal for an upgrade that was conceived to reward longtime fans of the series by granting them a better experience with the game. Patch 5.01, released Oct. 9, fixed several visual issues players had with the game, such as graphics problems on PC and consoles, and poor optimization on PlayStation 5.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered made improvements that affected all aspects of the beloved RPG. While the visual enhancements were obvious, players noticed the environment looked off — washed out, many would say. They quickly realized it was an issue with the bloom setting, which is a visual effect that's supposed to improve lighting.

A full list of the changes and fixes is available here. CD Projekt Red was quick to act. Update 5.01 made adjustments to bloom as well as ray tracing, path tracing, character lighting, and tone mapping.

Players who don't want bloom enabled at all can now toggle it off in settings. Light shafts and depth of field can also be modified. These customization features were previously available on PC but not on consoles.

Thanks to optimizations that were made with this patch, performance has also been improved. From now on, console players will experience a visually enhanced Witcher 3 Remastered. PC users saw graphic fixes made to dynamic resolution scaling.

Patch 5.01 is exclusive to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. CD Projekt Red is currently working on a separate version for the Nintendo Switch 2 of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered. This particular update will affect thousands of fans, especially considering the number of players who took advantage of a duplication loophole and got a free copy of the game.
