Maria Bartiromo is denying reports on Friday that was fired from Fox News. In a statement released by her attorney, Bryan Freedman, the prominent financial correspondent disputed "irresponsible reports" on Thursday that she was no longer an employee of Fox News after more than 12 years. "For many years, Maria Bartiromo hosted three number one rated television shows on Fox channels," Freedman told Puck in a statement.
"She has been, without question, one of the hardest working journalists throughout her award-winning career. The irresponsible reports that have been published stating that Maria Bartiromo was fired or is no longer an employee of Fox are absolutely and unequivocally false." His statement continued: "Make no mistake, we have the receipts and witnesses and they will come out whether through the courthouse or otherwise. Those reporting her firing or the incredulous facts supporting that fiction have exhibited a complete and utter reckless disregard for the truth." A message seeking comment from Fox News was not immediately returned.
President Donald Trump praised Bartiromo late Thursday in a Truth Social post, expressing shock upon learning of her departure. "I can't believe Maria Bartiromo is no longer going to have her great show(s) on FoxNews/Business," he wrote. "Three different shows, always number one.
Maria is a total professional, and a true warrior. Her fans, of which there are many, will not be happy. God bless you, Maria!" Vice President JD Vance also praised Bartiromo while addressing reporters on Thursday, although he said he wasn't aware of details regarding her exit.
"I love Maria," Vance said. "I think she's an amazing person, an amazing talent. Whatever she does, she's gonna do great, and I wish her all the best.
She's a very, very dear friend." Bartiromo has maintained a close relationship with Trump and has frequently given him a friendly platform, but she has also at times publicly challenged members of his administration, including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent over the rollout and messaging of Trump’s tariff policy. In a statement provided to Newsweek on Thursday, Fox News said Bartiromo was no longer with the network, effective immediately. "We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 1/2 years and wish her all the best on her next chapter," network officials said in a statement.
