Türkiye has welcomed and supported measures taken by 12 countries, led by the United Kingdom, France and Canada, to ban trade and business relations with illegal settlements in the West Bank, according to a statement issued by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on September 8. Ankara said Israel’s efforts to undermine the two-state solution are intensifying, arguing that Israeli settlements have become part of what it described as a systematic policy of occupation. Türkiye called on other members of the international community to adopt similar measures.
Ankara also reaffirmed its support for the establishment of an independent, sovereign and contiguous Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
