Rainbow Six Mobile is shutting down in 2027, Ubisoft announced just months after the Android and iOS R6 game officially launched.

Ubisoft is shutting down its latest Rainbow Six game, which it first launched four years ago, the publisher announced Thursday. A spinoff of the popular tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege developed for Android and iOS devices, Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Mobile is being "sunset" in January 2027. Rainbow Six Mobile's developers will "move on to other long-term strategic projects," Ubisoft said.

"There’s no easy way to put it: we have made the difficult decision to sunset Rainbow Six Mobile," Ubisoft said on the game's official website. "The game will remain available until January 15, 2027. The next season will be released as planned next week." Rainbow Six Mobile was released in beta in September 2022 and rolled out over time across multiple territories in the following years.

Ubisoft launched the Android and iOS game internationally in February 2026. The game was originally announced in 2022 as “like the full-fat version of Rainbow Six Siege that everyone knows and loves,” but tailored for touchscreen devices. This includes an entirely new gameplay control system developed specifically for mobile and extensive optimization of the UI and in-game visual presentation.” Ubisoft Montreal developers said that the goal with the free-to-play Rainbow Six Mobile was “not to have you stop playing on PC or console and switch to mobile,” but a chance to “play the game you love in short, accessible bursts, while also enabling millions of new players to get the R6 experience.” The mobile version was designed to “evolve very much into its own thing,” creative director Justin Swan said at the time.

The original Rainbow Six Siege was originally released in December 2015, and has since grown to more than 70 million registered players. The tactical multiplayer shooter's popularity remains strong, with Siege regularly appearing among the most-played games on Steam. Ubisoft released a spinoff, Rainbow Six Extraction, in January 2022, which received mixed reviews.

A new spinoff, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Tactics, is slated for release in 2027. Rainbow Six Siege is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
