Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell provided an injury update regarding superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson.

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson suffered an ankle injury during the first quarter of their Week 3 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This injury held Jefferson off the field in Week 4, as the Vikings extended their 2026 season record to 4-0 with a 15-10 win over the Miami Dolphins. Minnesota now turns its attention toward a Week 5 matchup against the New Orleans Saints.

After that, the team will get a break with its Week 6 bye. Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell says Jefferson is progressing well in his recovery process, and the team will continue to evaluate him throughout practice this week as they prepare for the Saints. He kind of got a lot of the initial soreness and things out last week, and see what he's able to kind of handle from a practice standpoint leading into Sunday, but don't know exactly where he's gonna be at.

We have the bye next week," O'Connell said on "The Pat McAfee Show." Given their 4-0 record and upcoming Week 6 bye, the Vikings could err on the side of caution with Jefferson's injury. Sunday's Week 5 matchup against the Saints will kick off at 1 p.m.
