Vikings Urged to Reunite With Former QB — and it’s Not Kirk Cousins

The Minnesota Vikings are being urged to bring back Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones ahead of the deadline.

The Minnesota Vikings are currently at the top of the NFC North with a 6-1 record and should be buyers ahead of the NFL trade deadline because of it. One area that the Vikings could look to strengthen is at the quarterback position. Because of this, the Ravens are being urged to reunite with one of their former quarterbacks, and it's not Kirk Cousins.

During a recent appearance on NBC Sports, Chris Simms urged the Vikings to bring back Daniel Jones from the Indianapolis Colts. "Florio wants them to trade for Daniel Jones. They loved Daniel Jones when he was there.

Would the Colts do it?" Simms said. With the Colts being major sellers, it is certainly possible that they could make Jones available ahead of the deadline. If they do, it could make sense for the Vikings to bring him back to Minnesota.

He would have the potential to be an upgrade over Minnesota's current starting quarterback, Kyler Murray. Jones was previously with the Vikings during the final portion of the 2024 season but did not appear in a game for them. He served as the Vikings' emergency quarterback behind Sam Darnold and Nick Mullens during their Wild Card Game against the Los Angeles Rams that year, though.

In eight games this season with the Colts, Jones has thrown five touchdowns, nine interceptions, and 1,542 yards. This is after he threw 19 touchdowns, eight interceptions, and 3,101 yards last season. If the Vikings acquired him and he regained his 2025 form, he would have the potential to be a solid addition to their roster.

It will be interesting to see if they pursue him because of it from here.
