This is a great morning for some cleansing, euphoric anger, and Volcano have hit us with exactly the kind of violent music that the moment demands. This is not the band called Volcano that's got members of Sublime and the Meat Puppets, by the way. This Volcano is an Ohio band that makes brutally heavy and ignorant hardcore.
Cody Davidson, from old-school death metal revivalists Sanguisugabogg plays all the instruments except drums (that's Collin St. Mary) and co-writes all the songs with tattoo-artist vocalist Jeremy Damron. This Volcano's two new songs are hitting right now.
Volcano broke in with the debut EP Fool 2 Tha Game in 2023, and they followed with the two-song single No Way Back last year. Today, they're back with another brutal two-song crusher with some characteristically gruesome cover art. Both new songs, "Lay Low" and "Salt," are galvanizing chug-mosh anthems that might make you feel like your veins are on fire.
"Salt" has guest vocals from Cold Hard Steel's JT Anderson, and it ends with a Willie Hutch sample that I was not expecting. The Ear 2 Ear single is out now on DAZE.
