A man struck by lightning as he was walking down the street in Staten Island, United States, has described the experience as "horrific". Thomas Fahmy said he had been walking to the dentist on 27 August when he saw "a bright white flash" and instantly fell to the ground. "I've never felt these sensations ever in my life", he told CBS News, BBC News's US partner.
Fahmy was sent to hospital with the help of a local resident who called 911, and did not sustain serious injuries.
