Wigan Warriors have retained the League Leaders' Shield after 26-20 victory over Leeds Rhinos to move within one game of a second consecutive treble. The Shield is the second piece of silverware of the campaign for the Warriors, who lifted the Challenge Cup at Wembley in May. They will hope to emulate the success of last season where they completed the same double before tasting Grand Final glory with victory over St Helens.
Topping the table earns Wigan a bye straight through to the showpiece, which will be staged at their own Brick Community Stadium on Sunday September 27, live on Sky Sports with a 5.30pm kick-off. Their opponents will be decided on September 18, when the sides finishing second and third meet in the semi-final. The Grand Final forms part of a double-header, with the promotion play-off final staged before the main event as the winners of the Women's Championship face the team finishing fourth in the BWSL Shield competition.
