Will Malik Nabers Play vs the Cowboys? Giants WR Drops Cryptic Hint

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers hinted his plans for Week 1.

New York Giants star wide receiver Malik Nabers has been working his way back from the torn ACL that he suffered last season. His status for the Giants' Week 1 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys remains up in the air, but he hinted what he potentially plans to do on Friday. "I've been waiting to play for so long now, but at the end of the day, I can't put my career at risk," Nabers said via Pat Leonard of NY Daily News Sports.

"I gotta take that into account. There's a lot of football I still have yet to play." That certainly doesn't sound like a player who sounds ready to suit up in just a couple of days, but Nabers and the Giants could also just be playing mind games with the Cowboys to keep them as unprepared as possible. The two teams are obviously quite familiar with one another, facing each other at least twice a year in the NFC East, so either side will surely do anything it can to have an advantage.

However, if Nabers doesn't play come kick off, it will be a massive blow to the Giants offense. He is the team's undoubted No. 1 weapon, and without him, things could get quite ugly, just as it did a season ago. The Giants selected Nabers with the No. 6 overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of LSU.

Since then he has recorded 127 catches for 1,475 yards and nine touchdowns in just 19 games. At LSU, Nabers showcased his elite playmaking ability while racking up 189 catches for 3,003 yards and 21 touchdowns from 2021-23.
