The Dallas Wings signed guard Kitija Laksa to a rest-of-season contract, the team announced on Tuesday. As a result of rookie Azzi Fudd's season-ending knee injury, the WNBA awarded the Wings a Season-Ending Injury Exception. Laksa will fill the 12th standard roster spot for the Wings.
The Wings have a crucial game against the Portland Fire on Tuesday. The Wings and Fire are the last two teams standings that have not clinched a playoff berth but have also not been eliminated from playoff contention. If Dallas defeats Portland on Tuesday, the Wings will secure the eighth and final 2026 WNBA playoff spot.
Laksa will give the Wings another shooter who can replace Fudd for the remainder of the season. Laksa played for Wings head coach Jose Fernandez at the University of South Florida, where she averaged 17.8 points per game across four seasons with the program. The Seattle Storm drafted Laksa with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft.
However, she did not make her WNBA debut until last season with the Phoenix Mercury. She played 33 regular season games and two playoff games with the Mercury in 2025.
