Wood has secured a $200m (£148.37m) contract from ExxonMobil PNG to deliver construction services for the PNG LNG project in Papua New Guinea (PNG). The agreement runs for five years and will see Wood support brownfield project works at several facilities operated by ExxonMobil PNG. The scope of the contract includes work at the Hides Gas Conditioning Plant, the liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant at Caution Bay and approximately 700km of pipeline infrastructure, as well as associated well pads and flowlines.

Wood will provide a range of services covering project management, civil and structural construction, piping and mechanical works, and electrical and instrumentation, along with support services such as scaffolding, lifting and rigging. More than 200 Wood staff in Papua New Guinea are expected to be involved in the delivery of these services. The projects are intended to maintain the safety, efficiency and reliability of infrastructure that supplies LNG to customers in Asia.

Wood operations chief operating officer Steve Nicol said: "For more than a decade, we have supported ExxonMobil PNG to deliver safe and reliable PNG LNG project operations. "By providing quality construction services, we will play an important role in maintaining and enhancing critical facilities that underpin the PNG LNG project's infrastructure. Our teams are focused on sustaining asset integrity, applying decades of experience to ensure they continue to run reliably and safely.

"We are committed to the country's economic development by working closely with our clients, supply chain partners and communities, with a continued focus on sustaining a skilled national workforce for the future." Wood has been active in Papua New Guinea since 2013, providing engineering, procurement, construction and operational services on energy projects for ExxonMobil PNG and other clients. The Hides Gas Conditioning Plant, which sits outside the township of Hides in Hela Province, processes up to one billion standard cubic feet of gas per day (bscf/d) from eight wells. The facility separates and treats gas, condensate and water before further processing and transportation.

Earlier in the month, Wood announced a five-year engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning framework contract with Serica Energy to support the Bruce platform in the UK North Sea. "Wood secures $200m contract from ExxonMobil for PNG LNG project" was originally created and published by Offshore Technology, a GlobalData owned brand.
