The screening is set for Sunday, Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. local time at the John Bassett Theatre, TIFF’s new screening venue located at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Cast members include Stuart Martin, Fra Fee, Jackie Kay, Costanza Andrade, Carolina Henao and Marlon Moreno. Snyder directed the drama-thriller and co-wrote the script with Kurt Johnstad.
Snyder is probably best known for his work in the DC cinematic universe, an era immortalized by the four-hour eponymous “Snyder Cut” of the 2017 superhero epic “Justice League.” He also helmed “Man of Steel” and “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” for the franchise. Some of his other notable works include “Dawn of the Dead,” “300” and “Watchmen.” He also has an “Escape from New York” remake in the works with the Picture Company and StudioCanal. Other films set to screen at TIFF include “I Play Rocky,” a Sylvester Stallone biopic about the making of his 1976 boxing drama “Rocky.” “Green Book” filmmaker Peter Farrelly directs and Anthony Ippolito stars in the titular role.
Rock leads an all-star cast of Rosalind Eleazar, Adam Driver, Daniel Kaluuya, Anna Kendrick, Topher Grace and Anthony Anderson. TIFF 2026 runs Sept. 10-20 in Downtown Toronto. The festival will close with “Villeneuve: The Rise of a Legend,” a sports drama about the early career of Canadian racing icon Gilles Villeneuve.
That movie screens on Sept. 19.
