The Las Vegas Aces are moving on after a 94-83 win in Game 3 against the Indiana Fever, with A'ja Wilson leading the way in front of the home-city fans. Wilson showed why she is a four-time league Most Valuable Player with aggressive, physical drives in the paint, battling with Fever players, including fellow All-Star Aliyah Boston, to rack up points and rebounds. She finished with 36 points, 10 rebounds, two blocks, and an assist in the big win.
The game occurred just two nights after Wilson's heated altercation with a fan in Indiana. In Game 2's fourth quarter, Wilson went into the crowd to confront a fan who stood up, pointed at her, and said something to her after a foul call on the Fever's Sophie Cunningham. I prayed a lot, I cried a lot, I talked to a lot of different people, and the amount of love that I received today and the amount of Bible verses I received today, it reminded me that I'm covered, so I can't really worry about anything else. I'm so grateful to be surrounded by people that constantly lift me up," she said. "Once I put that on the back burner, I had to come out I had to show up for my team today, and I'm glad we got the win." Wilson received a technical foul for leaving the court to confront the fan several nights ago in Indiana.
The fan was escorted from their seat momentarily in the fourth quarter, but then returned, as it was determined the fan hadn't done anything wrong. The Fever released a statement about their investigation into the incident. On Thursday, before Game 3 of the Fever and Aces series, the league released its decision after reviewing the situation.
According to The Athletic, the WNBA determined there would be no additional repercussions for Wilson for what transpired in the confrontation. Wilson remains a massive favorite to win WNBA Most Valuable Player for a record fifth time, based on her past season. She also has her team on track to add a fourth championship to her impressive career accolades.
With the win in Game 3, the Aces now await their semifinal opponent for the WNBA Playoffs, which will be decided in Friday night's Game 3 between the Dallas Wings and Golden State Valkyries.
