Kansas City Chiefs running back Kenneth Walker III suddenly appeared in the team's injury report with a foot issue on Tuesday, causing him to miss training camp practice. After he missed his second straight session on Wednesday, head coach Andy Reid provided an encouraging update regarding the Chiefs' starting ball carrier. So we're trying to get that down, but he's okay.
He's gonna be fine," Reid told reporters. The Chiefs signed Walker, the reigning Super Bowl MVP, as their new starting running back earlier this offseason. Following the departures of Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt, the former Seahawks RB leads a Kansas City room featuring Emari Demercado, Emmett Johnson and Brashard Smith.
Walker rushed for 1,027 yards and five touchdowns in his regular-season campaign with the Seahawks last year. He capped off his season with an excellent performance in the Super Bowl, rushing for a game-high 135 yards. The Chiefs will take the field for their preseason finale against Walker's former Seahawks team on Friday night.
Then, they'll open up their regular-season schedule with a Week 1 "Monday Night Football" matchup against the Denver Broncos on Sept. 14.
