Anthony Edwards delivers a fiery warning to the NBA as the Timberwolves prepare for the new season with LaMelo Ball.

Anthony Edwards has never been one to shy away from expressing his opinion, and the Minnesota Timberwolves superstar is already making it clear how he expects his team to approach the upcoming NBA season. With the 2026-27 campaign approaching, Edwards delivered a fiery message to the rest of the league, warning opponents about what to expect when Minnesota comes to town. In a video circulating on social media Wednesday night, the 25-year-old guard made it clear that the Timberwolves aren't interested in building friendships with their competition.

"We don't give a [expletive] about you. Ain't no buddy-buddy [expletive] going on," Edwards said in the clip. Edwards continued by telling opposing teams to be prepared for Minnesota's aggressive mentality whenever the Timberwolves arrive in their cities.

The comments quickly gained attention across social media, providing another example of the confidence and personality that have helped make Edwards one of the NBA's most recognizable young stars. Although his message was delivered with humor, it also reflected the expectations surrounding a Timberwolves team looking to establish itself among the Western Conference's top contenders. Minnesota enters the new season with an intriguing roster led by Edwards and newly acquired point guard LaMelo Ball.

The addition of Ball gives the Timberwolves another dynamic offensive playmaker capable of creating scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates. For Edwards, the partnership could allow him to spend more time playing off the ball rather than carrying the responsibility of initiating the offense on every possession. That could make Minnesota's attack more difficult to defend, particularly when opponents are forced to account for two guards capable of scoring from multiple areas of the floor.

Edwards has already shown flashes of his offensive potential during the preseason. He scored 26 points in Minnesota's 122-104 victory over the New York Knicks on Monday, connecting on five three-pointers while shooting 8-of-16 from the field. However, the Timberwolves experienced a setback Wednesday night, falling 128-106 to the Detroit Pistons.

Edwards finished with 20 points, three assists and two steals, but Minnesota struggled offensively, shooting just 38.2% from the field. Ball also faced difficulties against Detroit's physical defense, finishing with three points and six assists in 18 minutes. Following the loss, Edwards acknowledged that the Timberwolves must find ways to help their new point guard deal with the defensive pressure he has been facing.
