Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson is looking forward to seeing what running back D'Andre Swift can do this coming NFL season. Before joint practice with the Tennessee Titans on Thursday, Johnson hinted at some big numbers for the veteran ball carrier in 2026. "This is the best I’ve seen him this time of year," Johnson said of Swift, via team reporter Larry Mayer.
"He’s primed for a big year.” Swift put up the best numbers of his NFL career with the Bears in 2025, rushing for a career-high 1,087 yards and nine touchdowns. He also reeled in 34 catches for 299 yards and an additional score as a receiver out of the backfield. Earlier this month, Johnson said he wants to deliver the highest-scoring offense in NFL history in 2026.
If the Bears are to accomplish that goal, they'll need some elite production from Swift as their starting running back. The Bears will open up their 2026 regular-season schedule with a Week 1 matchup against the Carolina Panthers on Sept. 13.
