The Buffalo Bills received some good injury news after their dramatic 29–26 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday. Bills wide receiver DJ Moore left the contest in the second quarter after he fell hard on his left shoulder following an attempted pass from quarterback Josh Allen. This is an area that was already of concern for Moore as he injured his shoulder originally in Week 2.
He hasn't missed any game time, but he was limited in practices since then. The worry after Sunday's loss was that Moore would be forced to miss future games if the injury was re-aggravated. Moore did unfortunately re-aggravate his shoulder, but the injury is not considered “a long term issue as of right now," ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday night.
This is great news for the Bills and Moore as there's a chance the receiver will play in Week 5. The Bills have an extra day of rest this week as they'll play on "Monday Night Football" against the Los Angeles Rams next. Buffalo will need to have Moore back against a hot-and-cold Rams squad next week.
Moore was Allen's top receiver on the squad three weeks into the season as he caught 11 passes for 167 yards. Keon Coleman passed Moore as the top receiver on Sunday since Moore exited early, as Coleman now has 217 yards on the season. Coleman will have the opportunity to make the Bills' owner Terry Pegula eat his words from January when the receiver became the center of a controversy surrounding the team's choice of drafting him in 2024.
It seemed that Buffalo had concerns of Coleman's performances on the field as he was made inactive for multiple contests last season. The chance for Coleman to stand out lessened when the Bills traded for Moore in the offseason from the Chicago Bears. Moore is expected to be the top offensive target for Allen, but Coleman can prove that he's a good second option.
