The Atlanta Braves have added to their pitching depth, as they have designated Tyler Kinley for assignment.

The Atlanta Braves are parting ways with one of their veteran pitchers. The Braves have announced that they have designated relief pitcher Tyler Kinley for assignment. In addition, the Braves shared that they have recalled pitcher AJ Smith-Shawver from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Kinley appeared in 49 games this season with the Braves before being designated for assignment, where he posted a 6-5 record, a 4.01 ERA, and 42 strikeouts. This is after he had a 5-0 record and an impressive 0.72 ERA in 24 games with the Braves last season following being acquired mid-season from the Colorado Rockies. Teams looking for more pitching depth could consider claiming Kinley from the Braves.

He was excellent for Atlanta just last season, and he could be a good addition for a team that needs bullpen help because of it. His experience also adds to his appeal, as he is a nine-year MLB veteran. In 391 career MLB games split between the Minnesota Twins, Miami Marlins, Rockies, and Braves, Kinley has recorded a 25-19 record, a 4.67 ERA, and 384 strikeouts.

Overall, the 6-foot-4 righty has had a decent career as a relief pitcher, and it will be intriguing to see if he can find a new home because of it.
