It was reported Sunday morning that the Chicago Bears will likely be without starting quarterback Caleb Williams for three to four weeks due to his hamstring injury. The Bears are the latest in a long list of NFL teams this season that have already seen their starting quarterback go down with a serious injury. The Atlanta Falcons started third-string signal-caller Cooper Rush in Weeks 1 and 2 while starter Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa dealt with injuries.
Penix Jr. had a triumphant return to action in Week 3 to lead the Falcons to a "Thursday Night Football" victory over the Green Bay Packers. Both the Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks lost their QB1s in Week 1 when Kyler Murray and Sam Darnold went down with a concussion and a glute injury, respectively. Carson Wentz and Drew Lock filled in admirably for Minnesota and Seattle, leading their two teams to 2-0 starts.
The NFL saw a brutal string of devastating injuries to young star quarterbacks in Week 2, including Williams, as well as Jaxson Dart of the New York Giants and Jayden Daniels for the Washington Commanders. Dart suffered a season-ending knee injury during the Giants' Week 2 "Monday Night Football" loss against the Los Angeles Rams. For now, it'll be the Jameis Winston show for "Big Blue," though New York is reportedly considering a host of other options to replace Dart.
Daniels went down with dislocated left elbow during the Commanders' Week 2 defeat versus the Dallas Cowboys and is reportedly expected to return to action within the next three weeks. Veteran former No. 2 overall pick Marcus Mariota replaced Daniels following the latter's injury against the Cowboys and is filling in for the time being.
