The Kansa City Chiefs seem to have struck gold with rookie cornerback Mansoor Delane, who has quickly established himself as one of the best up-and-coming defenders in the league. However, the team received some concerning news about him on Thursday. According to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, the Chiefs added Delane to their latest injury report as a non-participant with a shoulder injury.
It's unclear when exactly Delane may have suffered the injury, but he did deal with a shoulder injury in training camp and then reaggravated it in Week 1. So, it could be that injury is flaring up once again. If that is true, it's certainly not the news the Chiefs were hoping to hear as they are already coming off their first loss of the season in a humbling 20-3 defeat by the Seattle Seahawks.
Delane, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, has held his own as a rookie, recording 27 tackles, five passes defensed and one interception through the first seven weeks of the season. He played college football at Virginia Tech (2022-24) and LSU, where he had 45 tackles, 11 passes defensed and two interceptions and was named a unanimous All-American and first-team All-SEC in 2025.
