Colts Add New Receiving Threat Hours Before Titans Game

Indianapolis has added another pass catcher as the Colts offense looks to get back on track against the winless Titans.

The Indianapolis Colts enter Week 6 needing to get back on track after a disappointing start to the NFL season. The Colts sit 2-3 after losing their first two games against the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs. They bounced back with wins over the Houston Texans and Washington Commanders, but fell again last week to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Quarterback Daniel Jones has struggled since returning from his torn Achilles, completing 61.4% of his passes for 1,021 yards and three touchdowns with four interceptions, with his mobility limited as well to just 25 rushing yards. The team has shown flashes of potential, but their defense has largely carried them while their offense remains one-dimensional behind All-Pro running back Jonathan Taylor. The injury to Alec Pierce hasn't helped, of course.

Indianapolis has a prime bounce-back opportunity on Sunday, though, with the winless Tennessee Titans coming to town. And just hours before kickoff, the Colts added another receiving threat to the rotation, activating tight end Will Mallory off injured reserve. Mallory missed the first five games of the season with a thumb injury, and the news comes with starter Tyler Warren listed as questionable with a groin injury.

Through the 2025 season, he has appeared in 24 games for the Colts, recording 23 catches for 252 yards, averaging 11.0 yards per catch. The 27-year-old showed promise during the preseason, though, hauling in six catches for 80 yards against the New England Patriots in the preseason opener.

He should fit in well next to Warren on Sunday. But if Warren were to miss, it could be a great opportunity for Mallory to break out and earn more targets going forward. At 2-3, they need to start building some momentum before they fall too far behind in the playoff race. Mallory isn't a guaranteed solution to their offensive issues, but adding a healthy pass catcher should help them find some much-needed consistency.
